My Story.....

Shannon Sayre

My life was normal. I had just gotten in married in June 2004 and now it was December 2004. I got a shower then went out to put on my clothes. It was December so my husband and I were going down to Santa Fe to buy presents. I went to my drawer to put my socks on and I noticed I was drooling. I came back to the bed to sit down and I don't remember much else.

When I awoke the room was filled with guys all looking at me. The one guy was holding a needle and was going to stick me with it. I quickly said what's going on, where's my husband. They then put me on a stretcher and took me out to the ambulance. When I got up to the hospital they were asking a whole bunch of questions, but all I could think about was this incredible bad headache I had. I kept complaining about this headache and that's about all I remember.

My husband says the next few days were not any fun. There were doctors and nurses and a lot of uncertainty. They weren't sure if I would live or die. I guess it wasn't my time to die though because I lived, got better and I'm here now to tell you that there isn't anything more scary than a stroke. I'm still working at my right hand and my right foot, but I feel I will get better with time.
