Hello my name is Michelle Magill , and I am 26 years old .
In December 2007 I had a stroke . This is my story .
One morning I woke up extremely tired so went to the bathroom and got back in bed (not thinking anything of it ) . When I woke up I noticed I had pins and needles all down my right side , I managed to climb down stairs and told my mum , she suggested we went the hospital . Once we was there they did a few tests ( most of which I cant remember ) and sent me home telling me to return the following day .
When I arrived the following day they sent me for a eye test , shortly followed by a C.T Scan .
As soon as I came out the room I knew something was wrong by my dads face . I asked him what was wrong and he told me I'd had a stroke .
From there I was taken to the E.M.U ward (which is the emergency medical unit ) where I stayed overnight .
The following morning I was transfered to the stroke unit where I stayed for several days . Most of the people around me were 70 plus and many of them didn't survive which was quite distressing for me .
I was then moved to the rehabilitation unit where I had a MRI scan and I stayed another couple of days , and I was finally discharged on christmas eve .
Six months on and I have regained most of what I lost but had to have intensive physiotherapy and occupational therapy .
Always expect the unexpected and live life to the full .
Thanks to Michelle for sending in her profile. Anyone else who would like to share their story can send it along with a photograph (if you're not shy!)
