Before I had my accident I was happy living with my 7-year-old daughter and my boyfriend, and going out with friends once a week. One Friday I was in Hamilton when crossing the road I was hit by a tractor, I know the road was clear when I started to cross. I remember trying to get up because i was going to be late to pick up my daughter, but an off duty nurse kept telling me to keep still. the police took details of my daughter and mother ,they went to my mums work and told her about the accident. I remember getting put into the ambulance, and them cutting off my clothes and that they were putting on the blue light on as it 45mins to get me from under the tractor. I don't remember much after this. I took the stroke that night, I was in a coma and life support, I was given the last rites. My mum and dad were told if I came out off the coma i would never walk or talk again, but I can walk only about 70 yards, but I can walk and talk. Thanks to my mum and dad they didn't give up on me by turning off my life support. Its true what they say you never know what's round the corner, I hope to get more power back in my left side. I am lucky i am still alive and made some great friends in hospital - Earnie, and Liz who both had strokes. I am now 29 and living on my own with my daughter with the help of carers. My name is Amanda France. I live in East Kilbride.
