I was a 24 year old Sky customer service assistant, the job meant a lot to me, but at school, a bit of prompting was called for. My job included upgrading and downgrading customers Sky packages, and with likes in sport, television and film, the knowledge was there and just tried to help customers as best I could. I remember the day vividly, 8th November 2010 just before travelling to work I suffered “The worst headache in my life”, I was taken by my father to the GP’s office in which it was diagnosed “Stroke”. I was flown by helicopter to Royal London in Central London but the the question was "What could have caused this stroke?" I was filled with questions. A coma is the brains way of fixing itself and I was in one for four days, but being able to speak in a week, physically mobile in two weeks and able to eat solid food in one month.
I said I was taken to the 'Royal London' in Whitechapel, Central London in which this was were the surgery happened, then after West Middlesex in Isleworth was sandwiched in between for easier access for friends and family. Outside of work, I had a supportive family and good friends, best friends in Kyrstie and Lizzie, twins but not identical, Tom an ex work colleague and Sarah a college friend of a friend. All of the visitors helped a lot, and luckily my condition was not as severe as it could have been. I’m always trying to be a model patient, even before all this, not someone to cause a fuss. Liz was quoted as saying “At first it was very frightening when we didn’t know what was happening”, but her feeling now is “proud of you for the steps you are taking”. The fact life is not easy, but every cloud has a silver lining. I am one to stay positive, I didn’t die after all.
