503 questionnaire respondents wished to return to work after stroke - only 211 (42%) of you were able to do so.
WHY??? What would have helped more of you to get back to work?
- More and longer term rehabilitation to tackle ongoing functional problems and psychosocial wellbeing. Returning to work does not seem to be perceived as a "rehab goal"!
- Liaison between health/care professionals & employers to negotiate a staged return to work.
- Recognition that job centre staff targets lead to a gap in/and inappropriate provision for disabled people with complex and hidden impairments. Fatigue and cognitive problems often go unnoticed!
