I'm a 36 year old woman who has recently learned that she's had a stroke some 18mths to 2 years ago. Whilst my effects aren't anywhere near as bad as some of the stories I've read here, and I count my blessings I'm still in the dark about a number of issues. This may sound a really stupid question but can anyone tell me whether its possible to go through life and never have another one, or is it inevitable that it will happen again. Also my stroke was an ischaemic stroke as a result of a blood clot carried from somewhere else in my body. It was that back part of my brain that was affected which would explain my difficulty in co-ordination and balance. So I accept that knocking into chairs, desks is to be expected. However I'm having problems remembering things - I forget conversations I've had, I can also have a conversation and within minutes I have to ask what I was talking about. Also I found myself not being able to use the right word for an object. For example I asked my husband to pass me my toothbrush recently but instead I asked him to pass me my camera. My head was saying toothbrush but that wasnt the word that came out. Is it possible for these symptoms to be connected to my stroke despite the fact that my stroke was at the back of my brain. Would really welcome some comments on this.
